HealthEbola cases in DR Congo surpass 9,700

The DRC National Institute of Public Health reported 9,704 laboratory-confirmed Ebola infections and 4,687 deaths, a case fatality rate of 48.3%. Another 937 symptomatic patients were being treated in hospitals and isolation centers. The outbreak began in the DRC and Uganda on May 15; Uganda has declared it over, while Kenya and Nigeria have since reported cases.
