WorldFSB detains German citizen who served in Ukrainian armed forces, press office says
Russia’s Federal Security Service says it detained a German citizen who served as a sniper in a Ukrainian territorial defense unit from 2016 to 2018. The man allegedly returned to Ukraine in November 2025, signed a three-year military contract and deserted after not receiving promised pay. Investigators are considering a case under Article 359 of Russia’s Criminal Code.
