Simbarashe Kundizeza denied using generative AI to write his short story The Blue Fighter, after The Atlantic reported that AI-detection software judged it to be almost entirely machine-generated. The story had won the Caine Prize for African writers days earlier; the prize said it was reviewing the allegations and its chair questioned the reliability of detection tools.
