The EU has proposed strict age limits for children accessing social media, games and AI assistants, alongside rules requiring companies to make platforms safe before minors use them. Amnesty International researcher Lisa Dittmer says the harms of social media now outweigh its benefits and the EU should regulate platforms at the design level.
