WorldBlast wounds two as de la Espriella cracks down on prisons

One day after being sworn in as Colombia’s president, Abelardo de la Espriella is confronting two bombing attacks. During his campaign, he promised a hard-line response to the country’s continuing violence and said on social media that there would be no leniency. The army says FARC dissidents used explosives to destroy a highway tollbooth near Cali. In a separate attack roughly 1,000 kilometres away in the northern department of Cesar, a police officer was killed.
