WorldRussia’s MFA says South Korea, US and Japan seek nuclear alliance against regional countries
Konstantin Vorontsov, a senior Russian Foreign Ministry arms-control official, said South Korea, the United States and Japan are effectively seeking a nuclear alliance aimed at other countries in the region. He accused Seoul of pursuing a deliberate, long-running escalation and blaming Russia for it. Vorontsov said a comprehensive solution to the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue is unlikely soon, as Washington and Seoul do not plan to withdraw foreign troops or replace the armistice with a peace treaty.
