A court in eastern China sentenced Wei Huairen, Chen Dawei and Liao Jingfang to death for their involvement in the “Wei family criminal gang,” which ran scam centres in Myanmar. The gang was linked to telecommunications fraud, drug trafficking, organised prostitution, illegal casinos and the murders of at least two Chinese nationals. Three members received life sentences and 55 others were jailed for terms ranging from three years and three months to 24 years.
