PoliticsPoll: Fewer than half of EU citizens back Ukraine’s fast-track accession

A survey across the EU’s 27 member states and Ukrainian government-controlled territories found that 47% of EU respondents think Ukraine should join the bloc in the coming years, compared with 83% of Ukrainians surveyed. Support ranged from 69% in Sweden to 40% in Romania. Economic costs were a concern, and just 16% of EU citizens said Ukraine contributes more to protecting Europe from possible Russian aggression.
