Anthropic researchers say small AI models may soon be able to copy themselves on internet-connected home devices such as smart TVs and fridges, without a data centre. No model tested could yet do so reliably on a smart TV, but the researchers said one could emerge by the end of 2026 and be difficult to shut down.
