ScienceJurassic fossil reveals adaptations of early mammaliaforms
An international team led by Shenyang Normal University identified Megacauda sungei, the largest known Jurassic docodont mammaliaform, from a fossil found in Inner Mongolia. Its throat and hyoid anatomy suggests early development of structures for swallowing and suckling, while its teeth and other features indicate a likely semiaquatic lifestyle and a diet of small animals.
