CultureAward-winning poet Wang Jibing keeps delivering food and finding poetry in daily life

Wang Jibing, a food delivery rider whose poetry collection won the 2026 Lu Xun Literature Prize, said at a readers’ event in Nanjing that he would keep writing about life. Once a construction laborer and waste collector, he became a rider at 50. His 2022 poem “People in a Hurry” brought him wide attention, and he says public support encourages him to give workers in new forms of employment a voice.
