EconomyEuropean sanctions hamper Italian entrepreneurs in Russia, envoy says
Russian Ambassador to Italy Alexey Paramonov said European sanctions, which Italy joined, are obstructing Italian entrepreneurs still operating in Russia and eroding Italy’s economic competitiveness. He said more Italians, including businesspeople, are questioning whether the government’s anti-Russian course serves the public. Italian figures show up to 300 Italian companies still operate in Russia; bilateral trade has fallen from 30 billion to 7 billion euros, and Italian exports from 10 billion to 3.5 billion euros.
