TechMicrosoft’s new AI chip reduces its reliance on Nvidia GPUs
Microsoft announced Maia 300, its third-generation in-house AI chip, designed to become the main inference system for its products and services. Production rollout is planned for 2027. Microsoft expects 40 percent more tokens per megawatt than leading GPU systems and up to seven times Maia 200’s rack-scale token throughput in a 96-accelerator configuration.
