Franco-British lawyer and author Philippe Sands received the German Book Trade's Peace Prize. In his acceptance speech, he criticized Germany's “inappropriate silence” about Israel and its actions in Gaza and the West Bank, condemned Hamas's October 7, 2023 attacks, and said Israel's right to self-defense is limited by international law.
