SocietyPope Leo condemns death penalty as ‘inadmissible’ amid criticism of planned execution livestream
Pope Leo XIV condemned capital punishment as an attack on human dignity. His remarks came as the Pentagon faced criticism for plans to livestream the firing-squad execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, convicted of killing 13 people and wounding 32 at Fort Hood in 2009. Hasan is scheduled to be executed there on Dec. 3, while President Donald Trump says he has not decided whether to approve the livestream.
