WorldIran-Oman Hormuz agreement does not provide for immediate reopening
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said an Iran-Oman agreement on safe shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz is a legal and technical measure, not a provision for immediately reopening the waterway. The two countries are seeking to register it with the International Maritime Organization. He said reopening depends entirely on the United States fulfilling its obligations, and Iran is not currently obliged to reopen the strait.
