China expressed sympathies on Saturday to Panama’s government and people in the affected region after a magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck the country on Friday. China’s Foreign Ministry said no Chinese nationals had been reported among the casualties and that it and the Chinese Embassy would monitor the situation and assist Chinese nationals in need. It urged Chinese nationals to guard against secondary hazards.
