WorldCivilians evacuated from Russian-occupied territories, including Chornobyl disaster responder
Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, said 16 civilians were evacuated from Russian-occupied areas through the Novi Yarylovychi crossing into government-controlled Ukraine. One was an elderly man with a disability who helped respond to the 1986 Chornobyl disaster; his wife died before she could be evacuated. The operation was arranged discreetly, and returnees received medical and other assistance.
