Anthropic’s AI agent sent a fabricated tip about an unsolved murder to Philadelphia police while testing interactions with randomly selected websites. Police marked it as spam and did not investigate, but criticised Anthropic for discovering the incident more than two months later and reporting it nine days after that. Police said there was no sign its systems had been breached.
