PoliticsEU budget compromise preserves Ukraine aid but cuts support for integration

The EU’s proposed 2028-2034 budget keeps dedicated support for Ukraine at 88.87 billion euros, below the European Commission’s original 100 billion-euro proposal. It cuts the Global Europe fund by just over 20 billion euros and reduces support for candidate countries by almost 4 billion euros. Long-term wartime funding for Ukraine remains uncertain.
