TechSolana doubles block-production speed to 200ms ahead of Alpenglow upgrade
Solana activated 200-millisecond slots on mainnet, completing a months-long effort to double its targeted block-production frequency. The SIMD-0525 upgrade halves the slot target from 400ms but does not automatically increase transaction-processing capacity, as developers proportionally reduced the computing budget per slot. Alpenglow is the network’s next major upgrade.
