The UAE attorney general said an Omani Flydubai co-pilot planned to crash a Dubai–Tel Aviv flight into the terminal at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, aiming to cause the greatest possible loss of life. Investigators said he had taken two earlier flights to Tel Aviv to learn the route and airport, but screening had found no signs of extremist views or a terrorist plan. On September 30, he attacked the captain with an axe; passengers and crew subdued him before the plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
