WorldPutin calls Caspian Sea shallowing an acute problem
At the Caspian Environmental Summit, Vladimir Putin said Russia considers the Caspian Sea’s shrinkage one of its most critical challenges. He cited an estimated 20,000 square kilometers of dried coastline in Russia’s sector over 20 years and an average annual sea-level decline of nine centimeters. Putin said climate change is the main driver and urged joint action to protect the ecosystem.
