SportsBordeaux relegated to France’s sixth tier over financial irregularities

Six-time French champions Bordeaux will play in the country’s sixth tier this season after sanctions for failing to provide about 10 million euros needed for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial years and to meet debt payments. The Nouvelle-Aquitaine league approved the club for Regional 1. Its new owners are due in commercial court on October 20 to ratify a 12-year continuation plan that halves debt from 26 million to 13 million euros.
