Filmmaker Arfat Sheikh was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement after arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport on September 24. The Department of Homeland Security said he overstayed temporary permission to enter the country; friends and relatives called the detention unlawful and urged his release.
