Portugal’s September was the hottest since records began in 1931, with an average air temperature of 23.4°C—2.9°C above the 1991–2020 average, the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere said. The month saw two hot spells and ranked fifth driest for rainfall since 2000.
