PoliticsDemocrats sue Trump over taxpayer-funded ad campaign

The Democratic National Committee and Common Cause filed separate lawsuits alleging that Trump used public money for television ads promoting his policies, in violation of laws and Congress’s spending authority. Both suits seek to have the ads declared illegal, halt spending and recover money already used. Trump called the ads promotion for the country and said he would fund future ones himself.
