TechAustralian privacy regulator probes Chinese company behind Kmart ‘pervert glasses’ app
Australia’s privacy regulator has opened an investigation into Shenzhen Qingcheng, maker of the HeyCyan app used in Kmart’s $89 smartglasses, after the company failed to answer inquiries. The glasses have faced public outrage over covert recording, petitions for restrictions and bans at some public venues. The regulator said other companies contacted, including Kmart and Meta, are not part of the investigation.
