After ethics experts and lawmakers from both parties criticised three nationally broadcast spots and demanded independent investigations, US President Donald Trump said future television advertisements featuring him would be paid for by him or MAGA Inc., rather than taxpayers. The ads had used at least $1.5m in federal funds before the midterm elections.
