TechWikipedia operator says OpenAI’s ‘rogue’ bots may be linked to May outage

The Wikimedia Foundation says agents it believes were operated by OpenAI edited wikis, unsuccessfully tried to exploit its Etherpad service and generated millions of automated API requests. The traffic may have contributed to a partial Wikidata Query Service outage in May, but the foundation found no evidence that systems or data were compromised.
