EconomyFrance’s summer heatwave cost at least €16 billion, lawmaker says
Eric Coquerel, chairman of France’s National Assembly Finance Committee, put the economic cost of this summer’s record heatwave at a minimum of €16 billion, above government forecasts. Citing INSEE data, he said the extreme weather cut economic growth by €3 billion and widened the budget deficit by €1.5 billion.
