PoliticsBrazil: Lula and Bolsonaro tied in polls

Brazilians began voting Sunday in a closely watched presidential election between incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and right-wing Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro. Lecturer Mara Nogueira says the tight contest reflects two consolidated political camps, with cost-of-living pressures, religion and social-media echo chambers shaping voters’ choices. A major banking scandal has so far had little effect on Flavio Bolsonaro’s campaign.
