TechChinese hackers impersonated AI experts to target US policy minds

Cybersecurity firm Proofpoint says the China-aligned group TA419 impersonated prominent AI figures, including former White House official Lynne Edwards Parker, to target policy experts in the US and Japan. The hackers used seemingly harmless invitations before directing respondents to fake login pages designed to steal credentials. Targets included think tanks, defence contractors, universities and law firms.
