Swiss glaciers lost nearly a fifth of their mass over five years, with 2026 recording the second-largest decline on record. The GLAMOS network measured a 5.5% loss this year, driven by heat waves, scant winter snow and record summer temperatures. Experts warn some glaciers could have no ice left within 10 to 15 years.
