The US Supreme Court overturned a last-minute stay issued by the 6th Circuit, allowing Tennessee to proceed with Christa Pike’s execution. Pike was sentenced to death for killing 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in 1995. Her lawyers say her childhood sexual abuse, mental illness and age at the time were not fully considered.
