A gas pipeline exploded and sparked a large fire in Eastern Ghouta, leaving Syria’s Deir Ali, al-Nasiriyah and Tishreen power plants offline because of insufficient gas supplies. The cause remains unknown, and authorities warn that electricity rationing will increase. Two earlier explosions in Syria’s gas network were blamed on sabotage.
