EconomyAustralia news live: ATO finds more than a quarter of big firms paid no tax as Thriving Kids launches

The Australian Taxation Office says about 27% of entities in its 2024–25 corporate transparency report paid no income tax, with companies mainly citing accounting losses. The report covers 4,299 entities earning at least A$100bn in total income, which paid A$87.5bn in tax. Meanwhile, the Thriving Kids early-intervention program for children under nine with mild developmental delays or autism has begun, gradually replacing NDIS support. Queensland has declined to join.
