PoliticsMI5 warns UK academics to cut ties with Chinese group over alleged spying

Britain’s MI5 has accused the China General Technology Research Institute of having very strong links to China’s Ministry of State Security and funding research at UK universities to strengthen its espionage capability. It warned academics who continue working with or taking grants from the group could face prosecution. MI5 said more than 100 UK-based academics had been targeted.
