ScienceStrongest El Niño on record expected to peak in November, China meteorologists say
The China Meteorological Administration says a “super” El Niño, potentially the strongest ever recorded, is likely to peak around November. The equatorial central and eastern Pacific temperature anomaly has surpassed 3°C for the first time, and may reach 3.2–3.5°C. The event could affect China through next spring and summer, raising risks of extreme rain, flooding, cold waves, snow and heat waves in 2027.
