WorldUN extends Haiti gang suppression force mandate for six months
The UN Security Council voted to extend the Gang Suppression Force’s mandate in Haiti until March 31, 2027, as violence by gangs and other criminal groups remains high. China, Russia and Pakistan abstained over concerns about the mission’s effectiveness. The force also faces staffing and funding shortages and is operating at about 30 percent of its intended size.
