SocietySix Flags closes X2 rollercoaster after hundreds allege brain injuries

Six Flags Magic Mountain in California says it will permanently retire its X2 rollercoaster after lawsuits and reports alleged that hundreds of riders suffered brain injuries. The park said the ride had passed safety tests but closing it was “the right thing to do”. Lawyers for some plaintiffs said the decision came too late, including for the family of Christopher Hawley, who died after riding X2 in 2022.
