TechAMD to acquire AI startup World Labs, escalating competition with Nvidia

Chipmaker AMD and world-models company World Labs say AMD will acquire the AI startup by year-end, subject to regulatory approval, in a deal valued at $8.2 billion. Founded in 2024 by Fei-Fei Li and other researchers, World Labs develops models designed to create useful, predictive simulations of the physical world.
