Krasnoyarsk plans to close maternity hospitals No. 4 and No. 6 at the end of 2026, leaving one district without a maternity hospital and reducing another to one. The regional Health Ministry cites a fall in births from 44,000 in 2014 to 23,000 in 2025 and says capacity exceeds demand. Staff at both hospitals oppose the closures, while workers at No. 4 report alleged threats of blacklisting and all 133 employees at No. 6 have objected.
