A senior Russian government source said temporary takeovers of European companies’ Russian assets are intended as “asymmetric measures” to pressure the EU over sanctions. Russia has placed assets linked to Auchan, Nestlé, Lemana PRO, FM Logistic, and Metro under temporary management, while the source suggested UniCredit and Raiffeisen could also be targeted.
