ScienceFruit flies remember their larval diet, influencing longevity

A Nature study led by Fumiaki Obata at RIKEN found that fruit flies retain a biological record of what they ate as larvae into adulthood, affecting how long they live. Researchers reduced yeast, the flies’ main protein source, midway through the larval stage before returning adults to standard food.
