EconomyUS strategic petroleum reserve hits lowest level since 1982

The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve has fallen to 283.8 million barrels, its lowest level in 44 years, after emergency crude releases intended to stabilize the market. The Department of Energy says about 70 million barrels are needed for operational safety, while Brent futures rose above $107 a barrel amid the continuing Middle East deadlock.
