ScienceScientists create 'hot ice' that may explain Uranus' magnetic fields

Scientists created superionic ice, a solid form of water that can be hotter than lava under extreme pressure. French researchers found a previously unknown crystal structure in its oxygen framework after compressing and heating a tiny sample. The finding may help explain the sharply tilted and offset magnetic fields of Uranus and Neptune.
