ScienceNew device captures carbon dioxide by pumping it across a battery
A University of Delaware team led by James Buchen has demonstrated a battery-based electrochemical method for capturing carbon dioxide. Hydroxide from the cathode converts CO₂ into carbonate or bicarbonate, which crosses a membrane and reverses into CO₂ at the anode. The researchers say it could use less energy and cost less than dominant reversible-filter systems.
