CultureRussian publisher Individuum shuts down following queer literature crackdown

Individuum editor-in-chief Alexey Kiselev announced on September 28 that the Russian publisher is closing, without giving a reason. He said books prepared in recent months would be released by other publishers. The closure follows accusations of “extremism” against employees of Individuum and Popcorn Books over queer literature; three people in the related publishers’ case received four-year suspended sentences in 2026.
