Marie-Celestin Karondwa, a senior member of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s ruling UDPS party in Butembo, was attacked after promoting Ebola prevention measures on radio, his party said. Attackers allegedly beat and robbed him and set his house on fire; he later died. The assailants and their motive were unclear.
